Questions about time & text tools
Do the timers stay accurate in a background tab?
Yes. The timers measure elapsed time from the system clock instead of counting ticks, so they stay accurate while the tab is in the background. Browsers may pause the on-screen update, but the time shown is correct as soon as you come back.
How is reading time calculated?
Reading time assumes 238 words per minute, the average silent reading speed measured for adults reading non-fiction in English. Speaking time assumes 150 words per minute, a typical pace for presentations.
